Rebecca Ramirez
Senior Vice President, Director of Risk Management
Rebecca Ramirez was named Director of Risk Management for JDW Insurance’s Risk & Insurance Management Consultants, Inc. subsidiary in 1998. Ms. Ramirez studied at the University of Texas at El Paso for a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. She has been working in the Insurance Industry for over 30 years and during the past 10 years she has excelled in continued education, receiving reputable designations. After qualifying for her Texas Property & Casualty General Agent’s License and Texas Risk Manager License, in 1997 she successfully completed her requirements for the respected Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. In 1999, she also became an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and in 2002 she qualified as an Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities (ARM-P). Moreover, in 2003, she became a designated Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
Ms. Ramirez began her insurance tenure with American General Insurance Company as a Personal and Commercial Lines Property Underwriter, gaining claims, risk and safety and loss prevention experience. In 1973, she transferred to the national broker Alexander & Alexander as a Property and Casualty Underwriter and supervisor/trainer of their technical service unit and personnel. In 1986, she became responsible for management and operational control of all insurance agency departments for D. C. Crowell & Co.
Currently, Ms. Ramirez’s primary role at RIMC is a risk management consultant responsible for acquiring and retaining large public entity accounts requiring sophisticated risk management support, including: risk exposure identification and analysis, coordination of risk control efforts, risk financing review, retention level recommendations, loss control and claim service oversight, workshops, conferences, as well as training and information on risk management related topics. In addition, she manages the firm’s safety and claims departments and serves as the firm’s Administrator for Contractor and Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIPs and OCIPs).
